New Basic Skills books
In February we published Basic Skills Practice and Tests: Maths Year 6 and Basic Skills Practice and Tests: Language Conventions Year 6. The books for Year 4 are due later in March, and the Year 2 books are scheduled for May. This will be the only series to offer a comprehensive revision and practice program through Years 2 to 7, and covering core curriculum content as well as preparation for NAPLAN tests.
More new books for March–May …
Also just published is Australians All, a terrific new civics and citizenship book by Anne Vize. The book fully meets the requirements of the National Civics and Citizenship statement, and is also an excellent fit with the new National History Curriculum. Teaching pages with facing student activity pages make the book very easy to use for Years 5–7.
Due in April is The Perfect School Project: A Step-by-Step Guide, by Ron Thomas and Shirley Sydenham. This handbook for students explains how to go about doing a school project on a range of topics, and provides a step-by-step, easy-to-follow planning and research process, giving examples of how to go about each step. Suitable for students from middle primary to junior secondary years.
Also scheduled for April publication is Chopper Rescue: Stories and Activities for Mentoring and Guided Reading, edited by Hazel Edwards — an anthology of 13 short stories, by both new and well-known authors, plus student activities aimed at encouraging and mentoring the writing of students in Years 5–8.
An exciting project for May publication is Girlfriends: Camaraderie, Community and Connectedness, by Robyn Floyd, Phillippa Adgemis & Christine Shiel — a program to improve social competencies by building connectedness to peers, school and community.
