Butterfly Magic
Butterfly Magic is a picture book text with fun illustrations by Rob Kiely. Jill Eggleton explores strong feelings through two quirky characters, Mr Grizzle and Beatrix B.
- Mr Grizzle is grumpy with everything and everyone. He scowls and growls and he huffs and puffs in a grouchy grump. But Beatrix has an idea. She knows what Mr Grizzle needs.
Australian artist Rob Kiely's illustrations are as gentle and humorous as the story, and emphasise Beatrix B. and Mr Grizzle's emotions. When Beatrix B. releases a 'rainbow cloud of butterflies' into Mr Grizzle's garden, the illustration is joyous, a riot of colour with butterflies soaring into a rainbow arc, confirming both Beatrix's emotions and the metaphor used in the text.
