Help - I've just started teaching!
- A support guide for early childhood educators
A graduate’s first few years in the workforce is a turbulent time of change and anxiety as they work to understand their role.Help - I’ve just started teaching! is a valuable resource for students, graduates, room leaders, mentor teachers, centre directors and tertiary staff. It helps to support contextual experience with practical advice and guidance and can be used as a reference tool to support students’ context and practice. It draws on the expertise of practising teachers who share examples of their early experiences.
Julia has worked as both a kindergarten teacher and educational leader since graduating from the University of Ballarat with a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) several years ago. She currently works as a sessional kindergarten teacher and program coordinator at a centre in Melbourne. Julia holds a Master of Education Studies from Federation University; her thesis explored teacher impact
on peer relationships in kindergarten settings. Help – I’ve just started teaching! is her first book and was inspired by her work as a mentor for pre-service teachers, new graduates and educators moving into leadership roles within a centre.
