Superb Social Skills in the Classroom

Put superb social skills within reach of children in your classroom. This series will help them to develop critical and more sophisticated social strategies and stronger relationships. Associated activities provide children with structured learning opportunities to play and practise newly learnt social skills that will set them up to succeed in many different social situations. Topics include friendship, decision-making, self-esteem, routines and dealing with school life.

Janet Bruce has taught at all levels of the primary school in Australia. As a curriculum coordinator, her primary responsibilities were to develop the school-based English curriculum. Janet developed the guided reading programme while teaching lower primary students and adapted it when teaching other grade levels. As coordinator of the Schools Student Welfare Support Group she facilitated group discussion between parents and teachers of children experiencing social difficulties to develop achieveable goals and practical ideas to assist the children.
